Networking and recruitment event continues to grow

BANGOR — More than 75 employers in law enforcement and other legal fields will meet with more than 250 eager students at Husson University on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at the 15th Annual Legal Studies Career Day.

Husson’s School of Legal Studies organizes the annual event. For students in forensic science, criminal justice, conservation law, and pre-law programs, the career fair is a chance to gain insight into potential future career paths and network with industry professionals in local, state, and federal law enforcement as well as other legal industries.

“Our goal is to provide our students exposure to as many career opportunities in the area of criminal justice and law as possible,” said School of Legal Studies Director John Michaud. “This year, we are seeing organizations that have not attended our Career Day in the past contacting us and asking to attend. I believe we are also seeing an increase in the number of law firms attending that are hoping to attract future lawyers and paralegals in the near future.”

Michaud said the School of Legal Studies has developed good relationships with organizations based on the success of Husson graduates they previously hired.

“It is particularly interesting and rewarding to see our graduates coming back and recruiting for the organizations they now work for,” Michaud said.

Student’s attending this year’s event can expect to see representatives from legal and law enforcement groups from across the region and country. Employers that have attended past Career Days include police departments from Maine and New Hampshire, the United States Department of Homeland Security, the United States Secret Service, the United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the United States Border Patrol, the Maine School of Law, the Penobscot County District Attorney, the Maine Forest Service, the Maine Department of Corrections, and more.

“Our School of Legal Studies Career Fair is a pivotal event where education meets opportunity,” Husson University College of Business Dean Marie Hansen said. “It’s inspiring to see our students connect with top recruiters and take significant steps toward meaningful careers in law enforcement, conservation law, forensic science, and legal studies. We are proud to support the students’ journey from the classroom to the field, helping them realize their professional aspirations as well as grow the workforce with our partner organizations.”

Legal Studies Career Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newman Gymnasium on Husson’s Bangor campus. Professional attire is recommended.

For more than 125 years, Husson University has prepared future leaders for the challenges of tomorrow through innovative undergraduate and graduate degrees. With a commitment to delivering affordable classroom, online and experiential learning opportunities, Husson offers quality educational programs in areas including technology; business; health and education; animal care; legal studies; pharmacy studies; science and humanities; and communication.
