Interim England boss Lee Carsley has named his first squad for upcoming games against Ireland and Finland.

The Three Lions head to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 7 September before returning to Wembley Stadium three days later for the visit of Finland in the Nations League.

Carsley is naming his first squad since taking over on an interim basis from previous manager Gareth Southgate, who led England to two finals during his time in charge, but resigned after losing to Spain at the end of this summer’s Euros.

Four players have received call-ups for the first time. They are Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento, Lille’s Angel Gomes, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.

Elsewhere, Manchester City’s Jack Grealish and Manchester United’s Harry Maguire are among the players recalled after missing out on Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

Speaking after the squad was announced, Carsley said: “I think it is fair to say the job that Gareth and Steve (Holland) did and the position I am picking the squad up is totally different to when they picked it up.

“I understand I am in a really privileged position and I am excited to meet up with the players.”

But on the new faces, he added: “I thought it was important we put some fresh faces in and put our mark on the squad.”

Carsley insisted he had not thought about his long-term prospects for the England job despite being given the role on an interim basis for the whole autumn period.

“For me that’s not really important,” the 50-year-old added.

The England squad in full…

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace), Nick Pope (Newcastle).

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Tino Livramento (Newcastle), Rico Lewis (Man City), Levi Colwill (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Ezri Konsa (Aston Villa), John Stones (Manchester City).

Midfielders: Conor Gallagher (Atletico Madrid), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest), Angel Gomes (Lille), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Phil Foden (Man City).

Forwards: Noni Madueke (Chelsea), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa).
