A man allegedly crashed a stolen utility truck Wednesday night, bringing down power lines and a utility pole in Auburn.
Ryan Buckingham, 32, faces charges of driving to endanger, aggravated criminal mischief and operating without a license, according to the Auburn Police Department.
He faces additional charges from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office because the utility truck was allegedly stolen in Livermore Falls.
Buckingham was driving the 2000 Ford F350 on Center Street about 10:14 p.m. when he crashed and overturned the truck, Auburn police said Wednesday. That crash brought down a utility pole and power lines, which blocked all four lanes of Center Street.
The fallen power lines became entangled over another vehicle, a 2016 Subaru Outback driven by 63-year-old Ronald Theriault of Rumford, Auburn police said.
Buckingham was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries. Theriault wasn’t injured.
While the scene was cleared, Keagan Richardson, 22, of Turner allegedly crashed into a parked and marked Auburn Public Works truck at the intersection of Center and Colby streets. The public works vehicle had its emergency strobe lights activated and stationed near reflective barriers to block access to the closed portion of Center Street, according to Auburn police.
Richardson, his passenger, and the Auburn Public Works employee weren’t injured.
Richardson was charged with driving to endanger.
Center Street was reopened by 9 a.m. Wednesday.
