The children of Post Office victims have met with a Fujitsu boss, describing “what felt like a sincere apology” from him.

A group called Lost Chances spoke to Paul Patterson, a day after former sub-postmasters also met with him.

Mr Patterson, who heads up the European arm of Fujitsu, has been holding a series of face-to-face discussions with those affected by the Post Office scandal this week.

Fujitsu developed the faulty Horizon accounting system and supported prosecutions against hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters falsely accused of stealing.

‘A chance to be heard’

A statement released from the children of sub-postmasters described the meeting as a “personal moment for us all”.

They said they were “glad” to have had “a chance to be heard” and felt “listened to by Fujitsu”.

The statement continued: “Recognising what has gone on in the past and how the scandal continues to affect us is so important.

“However, we have lost a lot, including our childhoods, fractured relationships, and careers.

“We look forward to hearing what next steps look like once Fujitsu has taken the time to reflect on our time together.”
