The family of a woman killed in a motorbike crash in Argyll and Bute have been left “devastated and heartbroken”.

Candice Adam, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on the A83 at the Kilmory Roundabout in Lochgilphead at around 2.45pm on Sunday.

Ms Adam, from Dalry in North Ayrshire, was riding a white Ducati motorcycle alongside three other bikers when the incident occurred.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, her family said: “We are devastated and heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful, kind-hearted daughter Candice.

“She was such a unique and special girl.”

The road was closed for around seven hours for investigation works and enquiries into the crash remain ongoing.

Sergeant Archie McGuire is urging anyone with relevant dashcam footage or information to contact the force.

Ms Adam’s death is one of nine amid a spike in fatal crashes since Friday.

Nine dead in one weekend

On Friday evening, three young men – aged 21, 23 and 24 – died in a crash involving a white Ford Focus on Moss Road near Dunmore, Falkirk.

On Saturday night, a 37-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of a collision involving a Land Rover Defender on the Girvan to Dailly road in South Ayrshire.

On Sunday afternoon, a 37-year-old man, 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman died in a motorbike crash involving a Suzuki GSXR and Kawasaki ZX1400 on the A6088 in the Scottish Borders.

And on Monday morning, a body was recovered from a silver Mercedes-Benz E280 following a collision on an unclassified road between the A96 and the B9103 near Elgin, Moray.

Chief Superintendent Hilary Sloan told reporters on Monday afternoon: “This weekend, we have seen a high number of fatalities on Scotland’s roads.

“Each of these deaths is tragic and our thoughts are with those affected.”

Urging drivers to take extra care on Scotland’s roads, she added: “A collision affects more than just you and your car. It impacts on your family, the victim’s family, emergency services and people who witness it.

“I urge every driver and road user to think about their behaviour on the road, be considerate towards others and help us make Scotland’s roads safe for everyone.

“We all have a responsibility to use our roads safely and to help us save lives.”
