A co-owner of a longtime Bangor pub has died.
Geaghan’s Pub & Craft Brewery announced Friday that Patrick “Pat” Geaghan, one of its co-owners, has died.
His parents, John and Arline Geaghan, opened the business, which used to go by John Geaghan’s Roundhouse Restaurant, in 1975. The business went through a few transitions in ownership, but it remained in the family, according to its website. Eventually Pat Geaghan joined his brothers, Larry and Peter, as a co-owner.
A Facebook post announcing his death appears to be written by Andrew Geaghan, Pat’s nephew and a co-owner. Andrew Geaghan shared fond memories of his uncle, who was also his business partner of 14 years.
Andrew Geaghan wrote that “in the past few months, Pat found his own health slipping, ultimately to a place where he was unable to recover.” Pat Geaghan’s daughter, Tara, has been his caregiver.
“Pat’s true nature was that passionate loving man who would do literally anything for the people he loved,” he wrote. “His passion for business was never in question. Pat was the first to take on the dirtiest and least desirable job when the day called for it.”
A host who answered the phone at Geaghan’s Friday said that because Pat’s death was recent, his family is grieving and unable to comment further.
