We don’t have to tell you again: It’s wicked hot out. Temperatures in the Bangor area will climb to the high 90s by midday and through the afternoon, accompanied by oppressive humidity. 

If you don’t have air conditioning, or just need a cooler place to stay throughout the worst of Wednesday and Thursday’s heat wave, there are a few options throughout the Bangor area that offer air conditioning. 

The city will also have personnel available throughout the week to respond to heat-related emergencies. To report any concerns, call 207-947-7382. Check out the list below to find cooling centers throughout Bangor. 

Cross Insurance Center

Location: 515 Main Street, enter at the Renewal by Andersen Entrance. 

Open Dates and Times: Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mansion Church

Location: 96 Center Street

Open Dates and Times: Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

HEART Community Center

Location: 304 Hancock Street

Open Dates and Times: Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Brick Church

Location: 126 Union Street

Open Dates and Times: Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Together Place

Location: 2 Second Street

Open Dates and Times: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Water and popsicles will be provided to people looking to cool down. Together Place is scheduled to be closed Wednesday but the center will be monitoring the weather to determine if it should open that day as well.

Bangor Public Library

Location: 145 Harlow Street

Open Dates and Times: Closed for Juneteenth holiday, open Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Bangor City Hall

Location: 262 Harlow Street

Open Dates and Times: Closed for Juneteenth holiday, open Thursday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Bangor Housing Authority Splash Pad

Location: David Road

Open Dates and Times: Splash pad will be on through the week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Bangor Waterfront

Location: Front Road

Open Dates and Times: Sprinkler will be on through the day
