Bangor police are searching for a suspect who got out of a car, argued with a man in a wheelchair, exchanged blows and then stabbed him before fleeing.
A 43-year-old man was arguing with a woman on a sidewalk off Union Street about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
During that argument, a driver pulled over, got out of a red Chevrolet sedan and began arguing with the man, McAmbley said Thursday.
That argument escalated to blows and then the suspect allegedly stabbed the 43-year-old in the arm before jumping back to the car and fleeing, according to McAmbley.
When police arrived, the victim was “bleeding profusely.” Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim’s arm before he was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Witnesses described the suspect as wearing a tan or cream-colored hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. McAmbley said that the Chevrolet had a rear spoiler, sunroof and mismatched rims.
