The owner of funeral homes in Lincoln and Millinocket has been accused of misusing money from funeral trusts.
Harold “Chip” Lamson is suspected of theft by misapplication of property, according to Lincoln Police Chief Mark Leonard. No charges have yet been filed.
Police searched Lamson Funeral Home on Lee Street in Lincoln on Thursday, and then searched its Tamarack Street location in Millinocket, Leonard said.
Leonard said that Lamson is suspected of misusing funds from funeral trusts established through his business.
That followed reports from several victims to police. Leonard suspects that others have been affected.
