Heather Watson has reached the last 16 of Wimbledon for the first time in her career.
The British number four won 7-6, 6-2 against Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan on Court One, taking the 30-year-old into the fourth round of the women’s singles.
Following her win, Watson said: “Wow what an atmosphere.
“Firstly, it wouldn’t be me if there wasn’t a bit of drama at the end.”
She said she was “so happy” to reach the fourth round, adding that the crowd helped get her over the line at the end.
When asked how she felt about other British players competing in the tournament and how they support each other, Watson said: “it really helps”, adding that they are all “egging each other on”.
Watson ranks 121 in the world and her opponent Juvan ranks 62.
