As a veteran who served overseas for four years, and eight years total, and grew up as the child of a Vietnam veteran, I support Andrea LaFlamme for U.S. Senate. Because of her knowledge of being the family member and wife of veterans and an active duty, deployed soldier, she has a vast understanding of how traumatized service members can be when they return home. This is very important to me.
Not only does she support the veteran community, she is a progressive feminist that supports women’s rights, Native Americans’ rights, education, and healthcare for all. Her drive to support her community is absolutely amazing, and not what I am used to from those in governmental positions.
Having spoken with her several times over the last few months, I’ve found that she actually takes interest in her future constituents and Maine neighbors. She has traveled all over the state holding town halls (in person and virtual), taking interviews, and speaking at events.
I’ve seen and heard a growing interest in her as a candidate, which makes me hopeful. Everyone that I have heard that has spoken with, or listened to Andrea, walks away with what seems to be a sense of hope. She is someone that has a background in education, is an active health professor, is a union leader, and a progressive feminist, is a breath of fresh air compared to what I have seen within governing bodies.
