Hollywood mourned the deaths of some of its most legendary stars in 2026.
The year started off with Broadway performer and influencer Bret Hanna-Shuford’s death at age 46. At the end of the month, comedy acting icon Catherine O’Hara died at age 71.
In February, Designing Women’s Camilla Carr died at age 83, Dawson’s Creek actor James Van Der Beek died at age 48, Harold and Maude star Bud Cort died at 77, Robert Duvall died at age 95 and actor Eric Dane died at age 53. That same month, Lizzie McGuire actor Robert Carradine‘s family confirmed his death on February 23.
Dallas star Annabel Schofield, former NASCAR driver Chase Pistone, actor Chuck Norris, Supernatural star Carrie Anne Fleming, NHL reporter Jessi Pierce and bluegrass singer Ronnie Bowman all died in March.
In April, hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa died at age 68 of complications from cancer, Downton Abbey alum Nathalie Baye died after a battle with dementia, Days of Our Lives actor Patrick Muldoon died following a heart attack and singer Alan Osmond died at age 76.
The following month, news broke that CNN founder Ted Turner had died at 87. NASCAR icon Kyle Busch also died on May 21 at the age of 41.
Most recently, Emily in Paris actor Pierre Deny died after a “sudden and severe case of ALS.” John McClain, who was an executor of Michael Jackson’s estate, also died in May at age 71. The same month, Star Wars film editor, Marcia Lucas, died from cancer at 80.
