A sentiment expressed throughout the state is our good fortune in having many qualified Democratic gubernatorial candidates. But now it’s time to do the hard work of looking beyond the surface to determine which candidate truly offers the strongest combination of knowledge, experience, vision, compassion and leadership — traits that are essential to protect our citizens from federal overreaches and ensure the well-being of all Mainers.

I believe Dr. Nirav Shah has those qualities, has protected us before, and voters know he will again; the proof is in the polling.

Shah is the only candidate who is both a public health expert and attorney, with a deep understanding of constitutional law. During his time at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, he led an organization with a budget and staff similar to Maine’s state government. Under his leadership, Maine became a leader on PFAS response and served as a national example for how to respond to a global pandemic.

While the candidates agree on many issues, Shah is the only one to present a detailed plan for how he will safeguard Maine from the Trump Administration. And as he recently suggested, results are the best resistance. He earned our trust by delivering results for Mainers during the COVID pandemic and will do so again, I believe, as we move through these challenging times.

Attend one of Dr. Shah’s upcoming events. Talk with him and ask tough questions. See for yourself what sets him apart from other candidates. And then, be sure to vote.
