Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies arrested three people suspected of operating under the influence after a pair of crashes and one traffic stop within the span of six hours on Tuesday.
Deputies were first called to a rollover crash on County Road in Milford at about 2:30 p.m. They arrested the 17-year-old male driver from Old Town and charged him with OUI and operating beyond license restrictions. The sheriff’s office said speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
At 7:35 p.m., a deputy stopped a speeding vehicle in Enfield. The driver, Dylan Palmer, 32, of Lee, appeared drunk to the deputy and was arrested and charged with OUI, according to the sheriff’s office.
At 8:05 p.m., deputies learned that a pickup truck had gone off the road and hit a utility pole, going airborne before the crash, according to a witness. The sheriff’s office did not say where the crash occurred.
The driver, Benjamin Slick, 32, of Glenburn, allegedly showed signs of being impaired by alcohol and admitted to being distracted by his cell phone. He was arrested and charged with OUI. The sheriff’s office said distracted driving and alcohol were both factors in this crash.
