SOUTH PARIS, Maine — A Maine man was arrested on Tuesday after he allegedly threatened to shoot up the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and assaulted an officer.
At about 6 a.m. the sheriff’s office received a call from a Mexico resident who said they were having a property dispute with their neighbor, 40-year-old Rex Call.
During the dispute, Call allegedly said he was going to shoot up the sheriff’s office.
Around 7 a.m., deputies said Call showed up at the Oxford County Complex in South Paris and made threats to shoot jail staff.
The Paris Police Department, Norway Police Department and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the complex where a physical confrontation reportedly ensued.
During the confrontation, deputies said Call assaulted a Paris police officer. Police used a Taser on Call multiple times before taking him into custody.
Call was charged with terrorizing, violating conditions of release, refusing to submit to detention or arrest, and assaulting a police officer.
Deputies said Call had been out on bail for a 2025 felony charge of negotiating a worthless instrument.
