A Bangor man allegedly assaulted a woman outside a convenience store early Monday morning.
Caleb Hewey, 39, has been charged with assault and violating his conditions of release, according to Katy England, a spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department.
Before the alleged assault, Hewey reportedly had threatened the staff at the Main Street Circle K about 2:20 a.m. He was angry because the bathroom was closed, according to England.
He allegedly struck a woman in the face.
When police arrived, officers found another man had detained Hewey.
Hewey was taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Tuesday morning, according to the jail’s website.
