No one was injured but two cats are missing after a fire Friday night at 266 Peninsula Dr. in Mariaville.
The fire was reported just after 6 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, they found the home fully involved, with fire spreading into the surrounding woods. No one was home at the time of the fire, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office.
After looking at camera footage, investigators found that the fire likely originated in an attached garage and believe it may have been caused by a lithium-ion battery. The fire has been officially classified as accidental.
