Love on the Spectrum‘s Abbey Romeo revealed where she stands with ex David Isaacman after their split.

“David and I decided to call each other ‘best friends,’ not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore,” Romeo, 28, said on the Wednesday, May 20, episode of the “Tea Time With Raven and Miranda” podcast about ending her relationship of nearly five years.

Romeo went on to tell hosts Raven-Symoné and Miranda Pearman-Maday about being single, adding, “Being a single lady, like what Beyoncé says, it feels amazing. I’ve grown and changed a lot over the past four and a half years.”

Despite no longer dating Isaacman, 31, Romeo remains grateful for their time together.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today,” she said. “He was a good start.”

The pair met on the first season of the Netflix reality series in 2021. After being the show’s longest-standing couple, news broke in April about the duo’s decision to part ways.

“Abbey and David spent four and a half years together and truly value the time they shared and each other,” read a joint statement from the duo. “At this point, they want different things and have decided to go their separate ways, but they remain friends, wishing each other the best.”

Before their split, Romeo and Isaacman teased their desire to get engaged in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in October 2024.

“We [are] gonna get engaged someday,” Isaacman said at the time. “[Abbey] likes all the things I like and she tries new things too. She is loving and kind … and she is beautiful and makes me feel like a prince.”

Romeo added: “[We’ll] get engaged someday … [right now] we’re having a blast.”

One year later, Romeo offered an update on their relationship.

“We have fun together and do things we both love, like going to the Los Angeles Zoo and Griffith Observatory,” she exclusively told Us in October 2025. “We want to take our time getting married.”

Romeo hinted that the duo had faced obstacles in their romance.

“We are working on our communication skills because we have different kinds of autism,” she explained. “I am a Gestalt learner and think in memories, and he is very patient with me, and we are still working hard on understanding each other.”

Despite their issues, Romeo was glad to set an example for other couples.

“Fans say that David and I inspire them and that we help them believe in love,” she continued at the time. “That is amazing. There was a time when I didn’t think I would ever be with someone and those days are over. I want everyone to find love.”

More recently, Romeo appeared on season 4 of Love on the Spectrum, on which she admitted neither she nor Isaacman was “ready to get married.” Romeo said they felt as if they were “already married in our hearts.”

“I don’t want to be a divorced lady like my mom,” she added. “So that’s why I don’t want to rush it, take my time to get married.”
