The summer is fast approaching — heck, for some, it’s already here. A new Star Wars movie is invading theaters this Memorial Day weekend, and popular streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video have already unveiled their seasonal binge-worthy shows, including the hits Nemesis and Off Campus, respectively.

Pluto TV also wants your time and attention in the summer, and the platform is making some aggressive moves to make sure you’re glued to your TV next month.

Us Weekly can exclusively reveal that Major Crimes will be available to stream on Pluto TV on June 1. All six seasons of the hit TNT series can be binged right away, but Watch With Us recommends a slow and steady diet of watching the show’s star, Mary McDonnell, outwit bad guys running loose on the wild streets of Los Angeles.

4 Great Murder Mystery TV Shows on HBO Max, Ranked by IMDb Rating

What Is ‘Major Crimes’ About?

Major Crimes takes place right after its parent show, The Closer, ended its successful run in 2012. When Kyra Sedgwick’s quirky detective, Brenda Leigh Johnson, leaves the LAPD’s Major Crimes division, there’s only one person who can take her place — the tough-as-nails Captain Sharon Raydor (McDonnell).

As a former internal affairs officer, Sharon isn’t well-liked by her cop colleagues, so she has to oversee a team that actively distrusts her. She frequently clashes with her second-in-command, Detective Louie Provenza (G.W. Bailey), an old-school cop who doesn’t like the way Sharon runs things.

The show also spotlights Sharon’s messy personal life, particularly focusing on her relationship with her adopted teenage son, Rusty (Graham Patrick Martin). A former sex crime victim, Rusty has his own issues to deal with and without spoiling too much, he becomes a presence in his mother’s professional life later on in the series.

All this serves as background to what Major Crimes is really about — the crimes! It’s a police procedural that blends cases-of-the-week storylines with a larger multi-episode and even season-long narratives featuring white supremacist groups, drug traffickers, drug kingpins and more.

Who Stars In ‘Major Crimes’?

The show’s major cast is listed below.

  • Mary McDonnell as Captain Sharon Raydor
  • G. W. Bailey as Detective Lieutenant Louie Provenza, second-in-command of Major Crimes
  • Tony Denison as Detective Lieutenant Andy Flynn
  • Graham Patrick Martin as Russell “Rusty” Beck, Sharon Raydor’s adopted teenage son
  • Michael Paul Chan as Detective Lieutenant Michael Tao
  • Raymond Cruz as Detective Julio Sanchez
  • Kearran Giovanni as Detective Amy Sykes
  • Phillip P. Keene as Civilian Surveillance Coordinator
  • Jonathan Del Arco as Dr. Fernando Morales (seasons 2–6; recurring season 1)
  • Robert Gossett as Assistant Chief Russell Taylor (seasons 2–5; recurring season 1)
  • Nadine Velazquez as Deputy District Attorney Emma Rios (season 2; guest seasons 3 and 6)
  • Jon Tenney as Deputy Chief Fritz Howard (seasons 3–6;[7] recurring seasons 1–2),
  • Leonard Roberts as Commander/Assistant Chief Leo Mason (season 6; recurring season 5)
  • Daniel Di Tomasso as Detective Wes Nolan (season 6; recurring season 5)
  • Jessica Meraz as Detective Camila Paige (season 6)

Major Crimes also had some pretty high-profile guest stars, many of whom appeared in my favorite episode of the series, season 2’s “There’s No Place Like Home.” In that episode, the team investigates the murder of a landlord, and all the suspects starred in a hit crime show in the 1970s. TV icons Marion Ross, Doris Roberts, Paul Dooley and Tim Conway play the suspects, and the episode is a hoot to watch for those who’ve seen them in their famous shows like Happy Days and The Carol Burnett Show.

‘Law and Order: SVU,’ ‘Chicago P.D.’ and More of the All-Time Best Cop Shows

How Many ‘Major Crimes’ Episodes Are There?

Major Crimes lasted six seasons and produced 105 episodes. Each episode lasts approximately 43 minutes, which is the perfect length for a crime procedural like this one. All episodes are available on Pluto TV and are presented in their original format.

Does Pluto TV Stream Other Mystery Shows Like ‘Major Crimes’?

You betcha. The streamer has an impressive selection of classic and modern crime dramas that will satisfy your urge for more murder. From the ‘80s landmark In the Heat of the Night to newer series like The Fall with Gillian Anderson, Broadchurch, Criminal Minds and Tracker, there’s plenty to watch after you’ve finished Major Crimes. Below is a brief list of what we recommend that are currently streaming on Pluto TV:

  • Criminal Minds
  • Rizzoli & Isles
  • Prime Suspect
  • The Red Road
  • Broadchurch
  • The Fall
  • Borderline
  • Law & Order (Pluto TV has a dedicated channel that streams the iconic NBC show 24/7)
  • Twin Peaks
  • Elsbeth
  • Blue Bloods

Can You Stream ‘The Closer’ on Pluto TV?

Yes. All seven seasons of Major Crimes’ parent show, The Closer, are also available to stream on Pluto TV. Find out how the Major Crimes division came to be, and see Sharon evolve from Brenda’s rival to her eventual successor.
