Housing
This section of the BDN aims to help readers understand Maine’s housing crisis, the volatile real estate market and the public policy behind them. Read more Housing coverage here.

Only four residential properties in Bangor changed hands last week despite late spring typically being a time when the state’s real estate market gets busier.

This is a notable drop from earlier in the month, when nine homes in the Queen City sold in a single week.

Information on the property sales come from state transfer tax documents, which are available to the public online.

While the homes vary widely in sale price, they average out to $279,500. That’s close to the average value of a home in Bangor, which sat around $284,000 as of last month, according to Zillow.

— Cary Veilleux bought 87 James St. from Debra Wright on May 11 for $1.

— Angela Tardy bought 134 Pine Ledge Road from America Cummings on May 14 for $599,000.

— Charles Lee III bought 50 Fourteenth St. from JC Cowboys Realty LLC on May 14 for $280,000.

— Joanne Hicks bought 99 Shepard Drive from Debra Fowler on May 15 for $239,000.
