Bangor had its hottest ever May 20 on Wednesday, breaking a record that has stood for 30 years.
The temperature in the Queen City reached 87 Fahrenheit at 10:38 a.m., one degree above the previous high-mercury mark set in 1996, according to the National Weather Service.
The spring hot spell stands in contrast to the high temperature of one year ago today, when it topped out at 56 degrees. The “normal” temperature for this day of the year is 67, according to the NWS.
The temperature is expected to return to a seasonal norm over the next few days.
