A Brewer-based church is moving into the old Books-A-Million building in Bangor.

First Pentecostal Church bought the building near the Bangor Mall on April 22, according to tax records.

The church will move its congregation from its current location at 14 Parkway South in Brewer to the building, according to a social media post from the church. The post shows Pastor Wade Townley and others walking through the building and cleaning up the surrounding outdoor area.

A sign on Bangor Mall Boulevard says the church is coming to the new location soon but doesn’t have an exact date.

Church leaders did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

The building has two floors and was valued at more than $2.5 million, according to tax records. It was sold at auction in February.

Except for being used as a Spirit Halloween location in October, the building has been empty since Books-A-Million moved to its current location in 2024.
