The Greater East Grand Economic Council has opened the 2026 Business Grant Challenge and invites area businesses to apply.
The council will invest up to $50,000 in grant funding, to be awarded to one or more winning businesses who propose the next great expansions or services to the region.
One of biggest barriers to getting an idea off the ground is funding, according to council officials, and the contest is designed to help local entrepreneurs get off the ground or help existing staples take the next big step. The money will come from a grant funding pool and does not need to be paid back.
The challenge is open to anyone with a solid idea and a commitment to the region, whether it’s an entrepreneur who’s been doing something on the side and is ready to go full-time, or someone who’s been running a local staple for 20 years and needs a boost to modernize or expand.
Priority will be given to businesses based in the region or owners who live locally, although anyone serving the region is welcome to apply. The council will also prioritize projects with job creation potential or that provide services area towns are currently missing.
People with ideas are welcome to reach out to the council and get some initial feedback.
The council aims to strengthen the greater East Grand region by encouraging growth, and hopes to help create new ventures or expand existing businesses. They also provide free professional guidance.
Email [email protected] to schedule a meeting before June 1 in order to be eligible for the grant challenge. Participants will receive extensive support and coaching throughout the process.
The deadline to begin the process is June 1.
