When it comes to fashion, Bad Bunny is older and wiser than many of his peers.

During the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4, the Grammy winner (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) underwent a beauty transformation as he celebrated this year’s “Costume Art” theme.

With the help of celebrity makeup artist Mike Marino, Bad Bunny, 32, was able to speed up time and appear as an aged version of himself.

According to Vogue, Bad Bunny wore a custom all-black tuxedo suit of his own design in collaboration with Zara. The oversized bow on his neck was also seemingly a reference to famed designer Charles James’ 1947 gown “Bustle,” which is part of the Costume Institute’s permanent collection.

For those wondering what the inspiration was behind the aging look, Vogue pointed out that one of the texts in the exhibition catalog states, “Perhaps reflecting our fear of having to face our own mortality, the youth-oriented fashion industry has traditionally ignored the aged body.”

Bad Bunny’s unforgettable red carpet look comes amid a special year for the Puerto Rico native.

In February, the rapper won several awards at the 2026 Grammys, including Album of the Year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

Just a few days later, Bad Bunny took center stage during the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show. According to a press release from NBC Sports, Bad Bunny’s performance averaged 128.2 million viewers from 8:15-8:30 p.m. ET — only slightly less than Kendrick Lamar’s record-breaking viewership numbers of 133.5 million in 2025.

While music may be his biggest passion, Bad Bunny has always marched to the beat of his own drum when it comes to fashion.

Why Bad Bunny Wore No. 64 on His Jersey During Super Bowl Halftime Show

“I’m taking advantage of this moment in my life when I can do whatever I want and wear what I want,” he told Harper’s Bazaar in August 2022. “I get to live life more authentically.  I don’t do it to become more famous or to call attention or to disrespect anyone. People on the outside can think that I have a strategy or I wear this to call for attention, but in reality, I just know who I am.”

Before making it big in Hollywood and attending New York’s most stylish event of the year, Bad Bunny recalled shopping with his mom at the local malls.

“I always remember seeing the pieces in women’s clothing, and they would always fit me so much better, and they had so much different variety,” he previously shared. “Obviously, as you get older, you start seeing what the world shows you, and if I lived my life that way, then I wouldn’t be able to dress in the way that I really want to. To a point, the fame and where I am gives me the confidence to do all of these things.”
