A fire on Monday morning that damaged an Augusta barn and home is believed to have been started by a spark from a generator.
The fire on Church Hill Road was reported at about 9:18 a.m. The homeowner was not injured but two firefighters, from Augusta and Sidney, were taken to the hospital and treated for injuries.
An investigation determined that the fire started when a person was working on a generator next to the home and tried to start it. A spark ignited the fuel and the fire spread to the nearby home and barn, the fire marshal’s office said.
The fire has been ruled accidental, the office said.
