A fire left two tenants of a Norway apartment building injured Saturday night.
The fire broke out about 9 p.m. at the 15-unit apartment building on Cottage Street, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
When they arrived, firefighters found heavy flames consuming the front porch and spreading into two first-floor apartments, Moss said Monday afternoon.
But firefighters quickly contained the blaze before it could spread further into the building.
Two injured tenants were taken to the hospital for treatment.
All tenants have been displaced by the fire. But officials expect some could return home in the coming days.
Investigators believe the fire started around the front porch, where hay and straw were stored and likely ignited by discarded smoking material.
The fire has been ruled accidental.
