Alex Cooper and husband Matt Kaplan were reportedly missing from their company Unwell’s all-hands meeting about ongoing concerns regarding the startup.
Bloomberg reported that the company gathered on Tuesday, April 21, to address Unwell’s show launches, employee retention and complaints about Kaplan’s behavior. Chief marketing officer T.J. Marchetti hosted the meeting, where staffers reportedly discussed the continued expansion of the company’s leadership team and plans to grow the business.
The outlet, which noted that Cooper, 31, and Kaplan, 42, were not present, also claimed that Marchetti acknowledged employee departures but said Unwell’s turnover is below that of other startups.
The gathering took place one day after Bloomberg published an article alleging that Cooper’s podcast network had faced dramatic staff turnover over the past two years. The outlet claimed that Cooper’s husband was also at the center of issues at the company while running the day-to-day operations.

Kaplan “has earned a reputation for frequently yelling at staff members,” which resulted in people threatening to walk off projects if he “doesn’t keep his distance,” according to the report.
While filming the network’s recent YouTube series, Unwell Winter Games, Kaplan allegedly “berated the staff on set and threatened to prevent them from ever working in Hollywood again if they messed up, resulting in a prominent, long-experienced crew member breaking down in tears.”
Us Weekly reached out to representatives for Cooper, Kaplan and Unwell for comment. The couple, who have been married since 2024, have not publicly acknowledged the ongoing claims.
The podcast host recently shut down speculation about a different topic amid a surprising feud with fellow influencer Alix Earle.
“I’m really tired of waking up and seeing you using this fake drama to distract from other s*** going online for you. Not interested. I know what happened and so do you,” Cooper said in a video on April 13. “So talk. Unless the fake narrative that you’re creating happens to be way more interesting than the truth. I have nothing to hide when it comes to you and me.”

Cooper asked that Earle “get specific” about what caused their issues after past rumors of a divide.
“Just say what you gotta say about me. There’s no NDA and no one is stopping you. Stop hiding behind other people and just say it yourself. What’s the beef?” she said. “Unless you actually have something to say, I’m out. This is over. Have a good Monday, everyone.”
Earle, 25, meanwhile, hinted at plans to share her side of the story when she replied, “OK on it!!” In a separate video, Earle was filmed watching Cooper’s post before making lighthearted comments about the situation.
Speculation about a feud originally started after Earle signed with Cooper’s Unwell Network in 2023. The podcast was ultimately dropped in February 2025 amid rumors of a rift between Cooper and Earle.
“They’ve had a lot of drama between them [since] they decided to collaborate on Unwell,” an insider told Us Weekly at the time. “They clashed over business, and their friendship is over because of it.”
