BATH, Maine – A Maine firefighter came to the rescue when a dog got stuck in a marsh in Bath on Wednesday.
The Bath Fire and Rescue Department said that it responded to a dog rescue near the dog park on Washington Street.
Officials say a dog wandered around the end of the park fence and went into the marsh, where it got stuck.
A firefighter then waded into cold chest-deep water and safely brought the dog back to shore.
“We want to recognize Firefighter Hinds for going above and beyond to ensure a positive outcome. Great work!” Bath Fire and Rescue Department said.
Mainers are asked to keep a close eye on their furry family members while in public spaces, including parks and other areas with boggy or marshy conditions.
Dogs are naturally drawn to the marsh, and this is not the first time that the fire department has responded to similar situations, officials said.
