Bangor sets daily low temperature record during wave of cold weather

Bangor saw a new daily low temperature Tuesday morning as a wave of cold weather swept across the state.

The Tuesday morning low dipped down to 19 degrees, two degrees colder than a daily low of 21 degrees on the same date in 2020, according to the Caribou office of the National Weather Service.

That comes after snow flurries blew through the Bangor area on Monday, alongside frozen rain and periods of heavy rain.

That low on Tuesday was also 16 degrees colder than is typical for this time of the year.

Other regions throughout northern Maine also experienced overnight temperatures that dipped well below the typical low temperatures. In Caribou, the low temperature was 16 degrees below the typical overnight low of 35 degrees.

Conditions through the Bangor area, central and northern Maine will remain unseasonably chill through Thursday, according to forecasters. Some snow and scattered showers may move across the region, although it’s unlikely that any precipitation will stick around too long, as temperatures become more moderate heading into the weekend.
