The Maine Army National Guard used a helicopter to pluck two stranded hikers from Bigelow Mountain on Tuesday.
After the Maine Warden Service requested help early Tuesday morning, the National Guard aircrew flew a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from Bangor to the western Maine mountain and executed a “mountain hoist extraction,” the Army National Guard said in a Facebook post.
The two hikers were taken to Sugarloaf Regional Airport and transferred for medical care.
