Sarah Ferguson has been spotted for the first time in seven months amid the ongoing controversy surrounding her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew.)

The Sun UK published photos of Ferguson, 66, at a luxury ski resort in Austria on Thursday, April 16. The sighting marks the first time the former Duchess of York has been seen in public for 213 days.

Ferguson has largely kept out of the spotlight following Andrew’s arrest in February and increased attention on the former couple’s links to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In the photos published by the outlet, Ferguson was snapped after exiting a Mercedes vehicle near her chalet in a quiet village in the Alps.

The last time Ferguson was seen in public in an official capacity was when she attended the Duchess of Kent’s funeral at Westminster Cathedral in London in September 2025.

The same month she was snapped driving out of her home in Windsor’s Royal Lodge. She was also spotted hiding in her car in December 2025 as she attempted to discreetly attend the christening of her granddaughter Athena, one. (Athena is the second daughter of Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.)

Ferguson and Andrew, 66, who divorced in 1996, recently made headlines for their previous associations with Epstein.

In resurfaced emails released by the Department of Justice in compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, Ferguson once called Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting his sex trafficking trial, a “supreme friend.”

A spokesperson for Ferguson previously claimed via a statement that her email was meant to counter an alleged defamation threat from Epstein.

“The duchess spoke of her regret about her association with Epstein many years ago, and as they have always been, her first thoughts are with his victims. Like many people, she was taken in by his lies,” Ferguson’s rep told the BBC in a statement in September 2025. “As soon as she was aware of the extent of the allegations against him, she not only cut off contact but condemned him publicly, to the extent that he then threatened to sue her for defamation for associating him with pedophilia.”

The spokesperson added, “She does not resile from anything she said then. This email was sent in the context of advice the Duchess was given to try to assuage Epstein and his threats.”

For his part, Andrew was arrested on February 19 for alleged misconduct in public office. Local law enforcement later claimed that they were looking into whether Andrew shared confidential intel with Epstein when he served as a U.K. trade envoy.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” King Charles III said via a statement at the time. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation.”

The statement continued, “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”

Andrew has not publicly addressed the allegations. The former Duke of York was released from police custody within hours of his arrest.
