Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax and his wife were found dead inside a home Thursday, the Fairfax County Police Department reported.
Police Chief Ken Davis confirmed the deaths to reporters.
Davis said the case is being investigated as a potential murder-suicide and that Justin Fairfax apparently shot his wife before shooting himself.
“This has been on ongoing domestic dispute surrounding what seems to be a complicated or messy divorce,” Davis said during a press conference outside the home.
Officers responded to a home shortly after midnight on Guinevere Drive for a death investigation report and arriving officers found the couple dead inside, police Captain Chris Cosgriff said.
