ROCKLAND, Maine — Knox County’s human resources manager has been placed on paid leave.
The specific allegations that led to Michael Schultz of Hope being placed on administrative leave are not being released. He was placed on leave March 20.
The county hired the Drummond Woodsum law firm of Portland to conduct an employment investigation connected to Schultz being placed on leave. The agreement with the law firm was signed April 1 by Commission Chair Ed Glaser.
Kasia Park will be the investigator. The engagement letter between the firm and the county calls for the county to pay $385 per hour. Time spent driving will be billed at $300 an hour plus mileage.
Park will conduct interviews and review documents, according to the agreement.
Schultz was hired in 2024. He served briefly as interim county administrator late last year.
He could not be reached for comment.
State law keeps confidential allegations against public employees until or unless a final written disciplinary action is taken.
