Scottie Scheffler was not a fan of a reporter’s question during the 2026 Masters Tournament.
“That was a 65 today. What did it feel like it could have or should have been?” SiriusXM and CBS Sports HQ golf reporter Jason Sobel asked Scheffler, 29, on Saturday, April 11, per video footage.
“That’s just a terrible question,” Scheffler replied before laughing. “Next question. Awful.”
ESPN reported that Scheffler’s 7-under 65 in the third round was the golfer’s best score in 27 rounds at the Masters. When the day came to a close, Scheffler was behind leaders Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young — both tied for first — by four strokes.
Golfer Scottie Scheffler’s Wife Meredith Gives Birth to Their 1st Baby
“In his very next answer, Scottie talked about getting a mud ball, a gust of wind and missing a putt all on the second-nine, then said, ‘It wasn’t maybe that bad, but it definitely could have been lower,’” Sobel wrote via social media, sharing a clip of the tense moment between the reporter and Scheffler.
The iconic golf tournament is set to conclude on Sunday, April 12. Days prior, Scottie competed in the Par 3 Contestant with wife Meredith Scheffler and son Bennett, 23 months, and newborn son Remy by his side. (Golf Digest journalist Jamie Kennedy reported that Meredith gave birth less than two weeks before the appearance.)
“This is what it’s all about!” Scottie wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, April 8, while sharing a family picture from Augusta National Golf Club. “Remy made his big debut and we are officially a family of four.”
Meredith also brought Remy to Scottie’s April 5 practice round ahead of the 2026 Masters Tournament.
Golfer Scottie Scheffler Rushed Home to Pregnant Wife After Masters Win
“We had another boy a couple weeks ago,” Scottie told reporters. “It’s been really nice. It’s fun. I’m really glad they’re able to travel with me this week.”
He continued, “My wife is a trooper and brought the boys this week. It’s been fun.”
Scottie and Meredith tied the knot in 2020, welcoming their first child four years later.
“I think it’s just wild watching Meredith go through that. It’s just nuts. I don’t really know how to describe it, watching the little dude come out of Meredith,” the gold medalist recalled of Meredith’s delivery during a June 2024 press conference. “It was a wild ride [and I’m] extremely proud of Meredith after watching her go through that. It’s nuts. I’m glad it was her going through it and not me because I don’t know if I could have done it … and the look on her face right after birth, she was just glowing, so proud of herself and so excited to have our little boy.”
