A teen boy made an upsetting discovery this week when he found a woman’s dead body in a “very isolated” area of Texas while he was on a bike ride.
The Houston Police Department received a report around 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, that a teenage boy was riding his bike when he discovered a woman’s remains in the Addicks Reservoir, according to ABC 13.
The teenager — whose identity has not been revealed due to his age — reportedly approached a man in the nearby area to report his findings, and the man confirmed it was a body before 911 was then called and responding officers headed to the scene.
Upon their arrival, police determined that the body showed signs of obvious trauma. Homicide detectives then rushed to the scene to begin an investigation.
Houston Officials Address Active Serial Killer Rumors After 3 Bodies Found
The Houston Police Department took to X on April 9 to share a photo of police vehicles in the area. The department confirmed in the caption that they were investigating the suspicious circumstances of the body being found. However, they did not share any further details about the situation or investigation.
Lieutenant Larry Crowson spoke to HTX News about the incident, explaining that an initial examination suggested the deceased woman was between 30 and 40 years old. However, no further details about the woman’s identity have been revealed.
Police have admitted the scene has not been easy to navigate due to the body being located away from a road. On the afternoon the body was found, the Houston Police Department attempted to get an ATV to tackle the challenging terrain of the scene so that officials could help further the investigation, according to ABC 13.
“This is a flood control reservoir. It’s dry,” Crowson told the outlet of the crime scene. “So right now, people use it to hike, ride their bikes, a lot of recreation out there. But it is very isolated.”
The Houston Police Department has not publicly shared any details about the investigation, including if there are any suspects in the case or if the woman’s cause of death has been determined. However, more details are expected to be shared with the public once the woman’s body is examined.
