An unimaginable tragedy took place this week when a 22-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn baby died following a shooting outside of a local restaurant in Glasgow, Kentucky.
The Glasgow Police Department confirmed that Ava Woodcock and her child died on Tuesday, April 7, at the University of Louisville Hospital, according to WKBO. Woodcock and her child were pronounced dead soon after the incident.
Brandon L. Bond has since been arrested in connection to the shooting and has been charged with murder (domestic violence), first-degree fetal homicide and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot. His charges were upgraded after Woodcock and the child died.
Investigators said that the shooting took place when Woodcock reportedly pulled into the parking lot of Annie’s Restaurant and honked her horn. Bond, 24, then crossed Cleveland Avenue and opened fire while Woodcock was inside her car.

Police said it’s not currently clear what events led to the confrontation and the reasoning is currently under investigation.
After she was shot, Woodscock’s car continued to move before it ultimately crashed. Police said it’s not currently clear if she remained inside the vehicle or got out of the car after she was shot.
Bond fled the scene, while police later located him in a wooded area behind a nearby recycling company.
It’s believed that Bond had been drinking alcohol throughout the day prior to the shooting. Authorities said he was “very uncooperative” after being taken into custody, and jail officials confirmed he was restrained and housed separately overnight.
Bond appeared for his arraignment hearing on Wednesday, April 8, in Barren District Court. It is not currently clear if he has entered a plea or retained legal counsel following his arrest.
The Glasgow Police Department did not immediately respond to Us Weekly’s request for comment regarding the case.
An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
A GoFundMe has since been launched for Woodcock’s family in light of the tragedy.
“The Woodcock family is facing an unimaginable and heartbreaking tragedy. Their beloved daughter was the victim of a senseless act of violence and, after fighting for her life, has now tragically passed away,” the post read.
“In the midst of this devastating loss, her unborn baby was also delivered stillborn — compounding the family’s grief in a way no words can fully capture.”

In addition to losing her unborn baby, Woodcock “leaves behind a precious 1-year-old daughter.”
“As the family surrounds her with love, they are navigating overwhelming sorrow, shock, and the weight of what lies ahead,” the post added.
All donations raised through the GoFundMe page “will help cover funeral expenses for both their beloved daughter and her baby, as well as urgent and ongoing needs — including care and support for her young daughter.”
