MATINICUS ISLAND — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday night on the island 22 miles off the coast of Rockland.
The stabbing was reported at approximately 11:15 p.m. The victim was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland with injuries that were not considered life-threatening and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the sheriff’s office.
Chief Deputy Curt Andrick said it appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing danger to the public. The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is currently investigating, and further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
