Vivian Wilson has made peace with her estranged relationship to dad Elon Musk.
“There’s not much I can do about it, so who cares?” Wilson, 21, told Cosmopolitan in an interview published Wednesday, April 8, when asked about being known as Musk’s child. “It’s part of my story, but it’s not the future of my story.”
Vivian is the daughter of Musk, 54, and ex-wife Justine Wilson, who were married from 2000 to 2008. In addition to Vivian, Musk and Justine, 53, are parents of son Griffin, 21, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian, all 20. Musk and Justine also shared son Nevada, who died of sudden infant death syndrome at 10 weeks. (Musk is also the father of eight other children from various relationships.)
Vivian has been estranged from her father since 2020 after she publicly came out as transgender. The model further took issue with her dad’s extravagant wealth.
Elon Musk’s Estranged Daughter Vivian Says She’s ‘Financially Independent’
“It was a very strange experience, very isolating,” Vivian told Cosmo of her upbringing. “The upper class have their own private schools, social circles and whatever. I have unlearned a huge amount, but even as a child, I was like, ‘This is a bit gauche.’”
She added, “I remember being very young and seeing homelessness and feeling sick to my stomach. People would get on me for being like a dramatic little child. But no, I was right to be a dramatic little s*** about that.”
While Vivian acknowledged her privilege growing up as a “rich kid,” she’s walked away from any family fortune to make it on her own.
“I have seen that s*** firsthand. It will change you, and the desire for power corrupts people from within. It is cartoonish,” she told the outlet of witnessing individuals possess immense wealth. “Achieving that and wanting more is a never-ending cycle of greed and gluttony, where nothing is enough and you kind of go insane. It turns you into someone different, which is honestly one of my biggest fears.”
While Vivian now seldom speaks with Musk, he claims that she was brainwashed into believing that he’s “evil.”
Where Elon Musk Stands With the Mothers of His 13 Children
“It’s full-on communism and a general sentiment that if you’re rich, you’re evil,” Musk alleged to the Financial Times in October 2022. “[Our relationship] may change, but I have very good relationships with all [of my other children].”
Nearly three years later, Vivian claimed that she was last in contact with Musk “almost half a decade ago.”
“Thank God,” she quipped to Teen Vogue in a 2025 profile. “Why would I feel scared of him? ‘Ohhh, he has so much power.’ Nah, nah, nah. I don’t give a f***. Why should I be scared of this man? I don’t give a f*** how much money anyone has. I don’t. I really don’t. He owns Twitter. OK. Congratulations.”
