Season 2 of High Potential is coming to an end with an HGTV-inspired murder.

In Us Weekly‘s exclusive look at the Tuesday, April 7, episode of the hit ABC series, Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) arrives at a hotel where she sees Karadec’s (Daniel Sunjata) girlfriend, Lucia (Susan Kelechi Watson). It turns out that her place of work is also the setting for the newest murder that LAPD’s Major Crimes has to solve.

“[This is] Vera Hensley from The Big Fix with Vera and Frank. It’s a husband and wife team. They repair houses and do renovations,” Karadec explains to Morgan, who points out that she doesn’t “really have time to build my own deck” as a mom of three.

Morgan examines the scene, which is how she realizes Vera’s body was likely kept by the pool overnight. She did question, however, if Vera was killed there or if her body was moved based on how wet her hair was.

“If she was killed somewhere else, we’d better find out where Vera’s killer has time to clean it up,” Karadec tells Morgan.

According to the official synopsis, the season 2 finale will follow Morgan and Karadec as they “investigate a murder at Lucia’s luxury hotel — threatening Karadec’s relationship.” (Lucia was previously introduced earlier in the season.)

Last fall, Sunjata, 54, teased how Karadec’s personal life would be explored on the show.

“Morgan meets a lot of people as she moves around,” he exclusively told Us in September 2025. “She’s got options. Karadec probably has a few options too. We’ll see what happens.”

High Potential premiered in September 2024 and follows a high-potential intellectual — Morgan — who teams up with the LAPD to help solve murders. She gets paired up with Karadec, who is initially skeptical about Morgan but ultimately starts to rely on her.

In the second season, Karadec appeared to grow jealous of Morgan spending time with their boss Wagner (Steve Howey).

What to Know About High Potential’s Supersized Season 2 After Major Twist

“We do start to unpack a little bit of that as we move deeper into the season. For us, our approach is, you don’t know if it’s protection or jealousy,” executive producer and showrunner Todd Harthan told Us. “Is he worried about Morgan engaging in a relationship that could be dangerous or complicated in a way that is destructive? Or is part of him starting to develop real feelings for her?”

Harthan continued: “It’s that fine line that we walk on the show. I don’t ever really want to tell the audience definitively which way he’s feeling but we’re playing with a lot of that as we dig deeper into the season. Because things are going to start to get a little bit messier.”

When asked whether Karadec knows what he feels for Morgan, Harthan noted, “They’re both still figuring [that] out. Even in TV time, it hasn’t been that long between the two of them. It’s just complicated when you work together and you have such an amazing partnership that continues to grow and bloom and that you become even more attached to.”

Harthan didn’t rule it out. “He’s still in the reconciling [with] it sort of phase. But that’s where we’re at now,” he added. “It’s still that he’s not sure and that we’re trying to be honest about that in its execution within the episodes.”

High Potential airs on ABC Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu.
