Netflix tends to have the most enticing selection of movies in the streaming-verse, and April is no exception.

This month’s film selections are seemingly tilted more towards borrowed titles rather than Netflix originals, but there’s at least one brand-new movie, Apex, worth keeping an eye on.

That’s just one of the films Watch With Us has selected for the three Netflix movies I can’t wait to watch in April 2026.

If there’s a connecting theme in two of this month’s picks, it’s that the wilderness is a terrible place to go while grieving and fighting for your life. Pick a lane, or else it’ll pick you.

New on Netflix in April 2026 — The Full List of Movies and TV Shows

‘Beast’ (2022)

Idris Elba leads the cast of Beast as Dr. Nate Samuels, a man who is grieving for his recently deceased wife, Amahle (Naledi Mogadime). To emotionally reconnect with his daughters, Meredith (Iyana Halley) and Norah (Leah Sava Jeffries), Nate arranges a family trip to Amahle’s native South Africa to explore their family roots and revisit an old friend, Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley).

But before any emotional healing can begin, the Samuels’ family will have to deal with a rogue lion. The titular beast of the film has already killed humans, and it’s eager to do so again. Nate isn’t a violent man by nature, but unless he can find a way to kill the lion, then he and his daughters may never come home again. This lion isn’t some mindless creature — it’s fully capable of coming up with ways to draw out its prey so it can strike when they least suspect.

Beast will stream on Netflix on April 7.

‘IF’ (2024)

John Krasinski wrote and directed IF, but he only takes a supporting role on-screen as the father of Bea (Cailey Fleming), a girl who has the ability to see other people’s imaginary friends. But since each imaginary friend comes in their own shapes and sizes, Bea doesn’t know what she’s really looking at until she meets Cal (Ryan Reynolds), a grown-up who also can see IFs.

Cal has taken it upon himself to help IFs like Blue (Steve Carell), Blossom (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) and Lewis (Louis Gossett Jr.) find new children to befriend so they can once again have a reason to live. Bea wants to help, but she suggests a more radical plan of action. She proposes that Cal locate these lost IFs with the people who loved them as children. That may be nearly impossible, but stranger things have happened.

IF will stream on Netflix on April 9.

‘Apex’ (2026)

Following The Old Guard and its sequel, Charlize Theron is back on Netflix in April with a new action thriller called Apex. Theron plays Sasha, an experienced rock climber who is mourning the death of someone close to her. To lift herself out of despair, Sasha takes a trip to Australia so she can venture out into the wilderness and embrace the solitude she thinks she needs.

Unfortunately for Sasha, she’s not alone. A killer (Taron Egerton) has decided to make a game out of his hunt for Sasha. But make no mistake, there’s only one way this ends if he catches her. In order to survive, Sasha has to outwit and outfight the killer. Anything less than her best means that she’ll be heading to an early grave.

Apex will stream on Netflix on April 24.
