ELLSWORTH — The Grand will bring a beloved classic to the stage this spring with live performances of “Charlotte’s Web” on the Stanley Subaru Stage at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 1 and 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Based on the cherished book by E.B. White and adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, this heartwarming production is directed by Ben Chandler and brings to life the timeless story of friendship, loyalty, and hope.
The story follows Wilbur, an irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a kind-hearted girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be persuaded to do a good deed; the Zuckerman and Arable families; and, most importantly, the extraordinary spider Charlotte. Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web, spinning the words “Some Pig.” What follows is a moving and triumphant effort that ultimately shows what it truly means to be a friend.
