A longtime bed and breakfast in Camden has new owners.
Lauren and Greg Schivley, through Bay and Boulder, LLC, purchased the Blue Harbor House Inn on 67 Elm St. on March 30 for $2.2 million.
The couple will host their first guests in a couple weeks and plan to be open full time from May through November and then a limited schedule in the winter.
Lauren Schivley said she, her husband, and three children (ages 11, 8, and 5) came to Acadia last October so she could run the MDI Marathon. On the way back to New Jersey, they decided to take a detour through Camden. They also had noticed there was an inn for sale in town.
“We walked through the inn and daydreamed about running it and being near the water. It was a magical experience. Our kids were excited too,” she said.
Neither of the Schivleys have experience in innkeeping but she had long wanted to be in a more creative profession where she could connect to people and be part of a community.
She has spent the past 20 years in corporate businesses, both pharmaceuticals and technology. Her husband is a software engineer who will continue to work part time for Princeton University.
The family, who are outdoor enthusiasts, are excited to be in Camden.
“We’re teaching our children that it’s OK to take risks and pursue an adventure. We have one life and we should make the most of it,” she said.
The inn has 10 rooms and suites.
The inn had been owned by Michelle and Matthew Peacock through Six Seven Elm, LLC. The Peacocks have owned it since March 2019.
