Maine has an affordability crisis, and housing is a big part of it. As a young resident in Ellsworth, I, like many others, am experiencing housing costs that are too high and a housing stock that is aging and deteriorating. Even more challenging is the fact that Maine’s housing inventory has fallen by almost half since 2019, giving renters and homebuyers alike fewer choices on where they can live. Everyone needs an affordable, safe home to live and raise their families, and we need leaders who support practical, non-partisan solutions for our state’s housing issues.
Rick Bennett is a lifelong Mainer, a proven leader, and an independent candidate for governor. He recently proposed a housing plan that would increase Maine’s housing supply, expedite the permitting process, and reduce down payments for first-time homeowners. This is the type of common-sense problem-solving that we need from our next governor.
From these and his other proposals, it’s clear to me that Rick will prioritize our affordability crisis. And, as an independent candidate, I feel assured that he is working for Mainers instead of a party establishment. I encourage all voters to learn more about his independent campaign at BennettForGovernor.com.
