Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua checked into rehab during an embattled year for the NFL superstar.
Nacua, 24, “voluntarily entered a holistic care facility to focus on his personal growth” in early March, according to a statement from Nacua’s attorney, Levi McCathern, obtained by NFL Network on Wednesday, April 1.
McCathern said Nacua checked into the facility before a woman sued him for assault and battery on March 25, claiming he bit her on New Year’s Eve. The woman also filed a restraining order against Nacua, which has since been withdrawn.
Nacua “takes responsibility for his well-being and increasing his performance during the offseason,” according to his attorney.
Rams Wide Receiver Puka Nacua Publicly Shoots His Shot With Sydney Sweeney
“He is committed to using this time constructively so that he can return in the best possible position — both personally and professionally — to continue contributing to his team and the game he loves,” McCathern added.
The two-time Pro Bowler is scheduled to “complete the program in plenty of time” to join the Rams for their offseason program, which is expected to officially begin in late May.
“Puka is also deeply grateful for the support he has received from his family, friends, coach [Sean] McVay and teammates,” the statement concluded. “It is unfortunate that a trivial lawsuit has drawn attention to Puka during a time when he is focused on becoming a better overall person. I am really excited to see what the future holds for this gifted young man.”
Nacua’s attorney said the decision to enter rehab was not a response to the lawsuit but rather an attempt “to improve his overall behavior in every aspect of his life.”
In the lawsuit, Nacua is also accused of saying “f*** all the Jews” at dinner before allegedly biting the woman. Nacua has denied the allegation.
“We will be filing a defamation lawsuit and pursuing all available legal remedies in response to these false and damaging statements,” McCathern told TMZ last month.
As for the claim that Nacua bit the woman — for which she provided photographic evidence — McCathern chalked it up to “horseplay.”
Rams Wide Receiver Puka Nacua Blasts NFL Referees During Livestream Rant
Nacua also found himself in hot water in December 2025 when he made a antisemitic gesture on a livestream with influencer Adin Ross.
“At the time, I had no idea this act was antisemitic in nature and perpetuated harmful stereotypes against Jewish people,” Nacua said in a statement posted via Instagram. “I deeply apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions as I do not stand for any form of racism, bigotry or hate of another group of people.”
During the same livestream Nacua ruffled some feathers when he blamed Taylor Swift for her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs having a disappointing season.
“It’s got to be the Swift curse,” Nacua said.
