A former University of Maine football player and Bowdoin College dean was arrested in Florida on Tuesday for allegedly committing a gross sexual assault in Maine.
Roosevelt Boone, 37, was taken into custody at IMG Academy, a preparatory boarding school and sports training facility, in Bradenton, Florida, on a Class A felony warrant of gross sexual assault under Maine law, according to the Brunswick Police Department.
The arrest comes after an extensive investigation into an alleged sexual assault that occurred in 2024, Brunswick police said.
Boone is being held at the Manatee County Jail in Florida as a fugitive from justice, pending further legal proceedings.
Boone played for UMaine from 2007 to 2011. He worked as a dean at Bowdoin College in Brunswick from 2022 to 2024 and before that worked two years at Colby College in Waterville, according to media reports.
Anyone with information related to Boone or potential sexual assault offenses can call Detective Justin Kittredge of the Brunswick Police Department at 207-721-4312.
