University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer a series of workshops on greenhouse technology at multiple locations across Maine in April. Sessions will be held April 10 in Machias, April 13 in Ellsworth, April 14 in Skowhegan, April 23 in Presque Isle, April 27 in Fort Kent and April 28 in Farmington at local UMaine Extension offices.
The beginner-friendly Basics of Greenhouse Technology workshops are designed for farmers, commercial growers, homesteaders, hobby growers and others interested in greenhouse production. Participants will learn about greenhouse structures and materials; heating, cooling and ventilation systems; basic automation and environmental controls; and common challenges with practical solutions for small- and mid-size farms. The sessions are led by Ankit K Singh, assistant Extension professor, sustainable agriculture and ornamental horticulture educator with University of Maine.
