A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman at a block of flats in Glasgow.
Emergency crews were called to a property in the city’s Kirkton Avenue at about 8pm on 17 March following a report of concern for Joanne Newlands, 41.
Ms Newlands was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brian Hughes, 49, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The suspect appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where he made no plea to the charges of murder and abusive behaviour towards a partner or ex-partner.
Hughes, of Broxburn in West Lothian, was remanded in custody and is due back in court next week.

Ms Newlands’ family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Gordon MacKenzie previously said the force’s thoughts were with “Joanne’s family and friends at this time”.
He added: “An extensive investigation is being carried out and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the days prior to Joanne’s death.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us as soon as possible.”
