Monica Lewinsky’s feelings about having children have changed over the years.
Lewinsky, 52, opened up about her family plans during her appearance on the Tuesday, March 24, episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show,” revealing that she “probably” will not have kids despite previously harboring a strong desire to become a mother and freezing her eggs.
When asked whether she still wants children, the activist told host Jamie Kern Lima, “Some days I do and some days I don’t. I don’t know. I have no idea how women like you and some of our other friends … I don’t know how you all do everything you do. And you’re also mothers and you’re spouses.”
Lewinsky explained that she uses all of her “energy” to “just show up and be me, just me looking after myself.”

“So I don’t know how you all do it. And I just, you know, I have had some extraordinary, unbelievable miracles in my life. And I am very grateful for them,” she continued. “And if I don’t get any more, I’m good. If I get more, amazing. And that’s really sort of where I feel where I’m at.”
Lewinsky also said that she’s “not sure” whether she wants a serious relationship.
“I think there are a lot of personal things that I have worked on for a long time, and the shifts there feel, like, millimeters at a time. … I think I feel really grateful that I’m OK with that,” she explained.
Lewinsky added that the shift in her feelings about motherhood affected her desire for a relationship.
“Sometimes I feel I want that more than other times, but I think moving past having kids, the idea of having kids, at least naturally, that really changed what I was looking for. It changed what I felt I really needed in my life,” she concluded.
Lewinsky previously got candid about no longer prioritizing having children during a June 2025 appearance on Elizabeth Day’s “How to Fall” podcast.
“It’s really amazing for me to meet a fulfilled, brilliant creative woman who doesn’t have children,” Day told Lewinsky.
Lewinsky responded, “It was not by choice. I joke [that] I came out of the womb wanting to have a veil and a bridal dress and then be pregnant. So, I had really wanted those things early. And I guess I have to accept that if I had been willing to make certain changes or sacrifices, pretty much anybody could probably get married, and not everybody’s able to have children. But if I had been able to, then that path … but I did really want it and I froze my eggs.”
She added that she had “toyed” with the idea of having a child on her own and had an eye-opening discussion with her therapist about “regret.”

“She said, ‘It’s a mistake to think that making the right decision means you won’t have regret,’” Lewinsky recalled.
Lewinsky became internationally known in the late ’90s after former U.S. President Bill Clinton admitted he had an affair with her while she was a White House intern between 1995 and 1997. During an episode of her “Reclaiming” podcast in March 2025, Lewinsky said it took her 20 years to recover from the “public humiliation” of the scandal.
“There is an interesting thing about both the experience of public humiliation and the healing from it — that it doesn’t happen alone,” she said. “You actually cannot be publicly humiliated in a vacuum. Someone has to do something, or something has to happen, or you f*** up. If you f*** up when you’re by yourself, you’re not publicly humiliated. It’s that social dynamic that’s really interesting. … It took me 20 years, but I think I’ve just seen for myself how it’s been, really, a social and collective process for me of being able to heal and reclaim that way.”
