A spring storm is bringing snow and hazardous driving conditions to much of Maine on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
Portions of central, coastal and eastern Maine — including the Penobscot Valley and Down East regions — are under a winter weather advisory until 4 a.m. Monday, with 3 to 6 inches of snow expected and slippery road conditions likely.
The heaviest snow is forecast for western Maine, where a winter storm warning is in effect until 2 a.m. Monday. Forecasters are calling for 5 to 8 inches, with periods of moderate to heavy snow and low visibility creating dangerous driving conditions.
Winter weather advisories also cover south central, southwest and west central Maine until 5 a.m. Monday, with 3 to 6 inches expected, and northern Piscataquis and Somerset counties until midnight Sunday, with 3 to 5 inches forecast.
Forecasters are urging drivers to plan for slippery road conditions across all affected areas.
