I support Graham Platner because I believe he will fight for the working and middle classes.
I share Graham’s anger and concern that the billionaire class is engaging in a corporate raid of our government, its resources and protections. Under the guise of waste and fraud, the current administration has been cutting every “common good” program they can find: parks, libraries, public education, consumer protection, housing, healthcare, etc.
As a retired public and school librarian, I have seen the value of nonprofit programs to a community. The public library is the “poor man’s university,” offering a safe gathering place for all ages, plus online and print resources at no charge, museum passes, and even blenders. Then there is the Farm & Sea to School food program, which provides both nutrition (and education) for children and a market for local farms. Helps food pantries too.
Some question Platner’s lack of experience in seasoned politics. I think Graham’s strength lies in caring what his constituents think and care about. Graham has strong community organizing skills, has networked with grassroot organizations, and inspired 12,000 volunteer workers, young and old, led by a younger generation. He has been questioned by thousands of Mainers in his town halls. From his years in the military and small business, I believe he has the fortitude and experience to stand up to the “same old politics.” He is brave.
Vote for a young, energetic man with a vision for the future that is focused on the heart of our country, the working and middle classes.
